The tide is turning? How might we read the signs of the times?
Since January 1 of this year – there have been 586 pieces of anti-trans legislation introduced, mostly at state levels throughout the United States. The vast majority have not been passed. A recent NORC LA Times poll has indicated that 77% of Americans support protecting transgender access to medical care and think that politicians use trans people as a distraction to dealing with more pressing needs.
Another Gallup poll reports that 2/3rds of voters are against bans against gender affirming care for youth.
Increasingly, the American public believe that politicians should stay out of decision making roles which rightly belong to trans persons, parents, families, medical and mental
health professionals working together in determining access to medical care.
