What Do Gender Doulas Do?

Gender doulas provide non-clinical support for those going through a gender transition by advocating within health care systems, trouble-shooting difficult interpersonal relationships, exploring gender identity and physical transition options, researching and recommending trans-affirming health care professionals and resources, navigating insurance issues, and much, much more. As more states pass bans on gender-affirming care, these doulas are a vital resource — and more necessary now than ever. Interested in leaning more?
