For the trans community, the results of the recent election have been tough to bear. For months the anti-trans ads, fearmongering, outrageous claims, threats, and misinformation blared non-stop on media platforms. Many hoped for a different outcome. Many were shocked by the results.
The recent First Thursday November 7th gathering of the Trans Community experienced a bump in attendance and felt a little more subdued than usual. As a community, it's okay to take some time to grieve. However, as we look ahead, it is not a time to give up on what we do, but a time to reaffirm the importance of our efforts. The BACGD remains committed to providing a local community of care, support, and service to trans individuals, family, and friends.
In addition, a key part of the mission of BACGD has been to advocate for the rights of trans persons, their families and allies. As things unfold in this new year – BACGD will remain ever vigilant and active in advocacy efforts and we hope you will as well. Share our newsletter and other resources with others as we work together in keeping connected to things happening in NE Wisconsin, throughout our state and country, too.
Beyond the BACGD, here are a listing of other organizations and groups committed to making a difference through advocacy efforts. Links are imbedded so please click on each to check out their work and resources in an effort to deepen your understanding of the issues and assist you with your individual response. Together we can do more!
