Arrested for Using the Bathroom

Earlier this month on April 4th, Marcy Rheintgen, a transgender college student visiting family in Tallahassee Florida, was arrested at the State Capitol simply for using the women’s restroom — and now faces 60 days in jail and a criminal charge that could derail her life.

She didn’t hurt anyone. She washed her hands, prayed the rosary, and was led away in handcuffs.

This is the first known arrest under Florida’s anti-trans bathroom law; it sends a chilling message: that transgender people can be treated like criminals just for existing in public spaces.

See more of the story and consider signing the online petition designed to bring more attention to this injustice and encourage additional shared conversation about this misdirected legislation. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
